<br />did a quick search and he can actually recommend the appointment of prime minister (article 21 (2a)) <br />however on reading further, the prime minister also has the power to remove the president from his office (article 22L (clause 1C, 3-7)) <br />in accordance to article 22, the president does play a big part in appointing key holders of the public organisation in singapore and overseeing their operation <br />the above articles seems to suggest the president is not as powerless as it seems and he plays an important role in making difficult decision for the people/government <br /> <br />hand, specs, heart or tree? holiday to china during CNY this year<br />wanted to experience something different this year and hence the trip to china<br />trip lasted for 8 days from 29 Jan - 6 Feb<br />went shandong, weihai. as my dad is also taking the oppotunity to visit his colleague<br />flight from beijing to weihai was delayed for 5 hrs due to heavy snowing...<br />the temperature was at -10 degree celcius when the plane touch down<br />shivering when i was at the walkway to the airport from the plane<br />my dad's colleague was already waiting at the airport like 1 hr before we landed...<br />reached the hotel there at around 11pm<br />the place is not bad considering there is proper infrastructure<br />had a quick warm shower as the weather is seriously too cold compared to our sunny singapore<br /><br />went to shop for plug converter the next day<br />its still snowing and hence the road is slippery due to the frozen ice...<br />saw the people clearing the road with dozers and shovels<br />bought some food stuff and instant noodles<br />finally managed to get online but china blocked facebook, youtube and blogspot<br />feels like its as good as no internet access...<br />went for a short tour around the wendeng city where the hotel is located<br />had lunch at one of their restaurant tried the local dishes<br />its generally much more salty and contain a lot more vegetable...<br />taste wise is not bad but i could not get used to eating so much vegetable<br /><br />sightseeing at LiuGong Island on the 3rd day...<br />its is really big compared to sentosa and it contains all the evidence of sino-japanese war<br />the war memorial depicts the island as a major outpost during the war<br />lots of propaganda is detected and provoking hatred towards the japanese<br />guess thats the purpose of war memorial musuem...<br /><br />during the 3rd and 4th of febuary, which is the first and second day of CNY<br />the whole place is like some ghost town...<br />everyone is at home celebrating new year and no one is working at all<br />which means no shopping, no food, no nothing<br />luckily the supermarket is open halfday and we quickly grab instant noodles and biscuit...<br />spend the 2 days in hotel watching tv and eating instant noodles<br />what a "GOOD" idea to visit china during CNY...<br /><br />on the 5th most of the place is open for business<br />went for somemore sightseeing around<br />went up one mountain to see some jade sculpture<br />its really gigantic and made me wonder how they lift it up to the top of the mountain...<br />went back and bought a few bottle of their locally produced wine<br /><br />i now wonder how much my health is affected by this trip to china<br />their instant noodle and milk tea definitely will reduce my life expectancy<br />but then again... the food taste good =(<br /><br />back to singapore ytd at ard 11pm...<br />bought a martell and vodka at the DFS<br />wanted to eat supper at airport but cabbed home weeks has passed and i m back to SG<br />enjoyed myself in thailand for quite a bit especially on days without training<br />missed the pineapple rice, phat-thai and some other local dish<br />their food seriously taste heavenly compared to SG...<br />weather is much hotter than singapore and i had trouble sleeping due to the temperature<br />training under the sun is worst and we were all practically baked under the blazing heat<br />played dotA in the canteen whenever i have time and it is really a good way to pass time<br />met the infamous "jenny" at the canteen and he is damn bloody fat...<br />he still wore some oversized dress and perform cat-walk around the canteen...<br />damn that really spoilt our appetite for the day<br /><br />had our educational tour today before returning back to SG<br />first stop was at the death railway<br />nothing much to see actually so we just slept inside the bus...<br />spent 80% of our time travelling all the way back to bangkok<br />and we ended up with only 1 hour to shop in one mega big shopping mall<br />damn and i could not buy anything cause the place is just too big to walk ard...<br />saw this A&amp;W restaurant and somehow everyone is crazy about the curly fries...<br />bought the chicken burger meal for A&amp;W for dinner and it tasted somehow like burger king<br />boarded the plane and reach SG at 1am<br />saw this group of ppl at the departure area waiting to go for claymore frame 2...<br />waved at them and we could see their unwillingness to leave singapore<br />haha that was how we were feeling 2 weeks itself...<br />haha screw NYNY give so much fries so ppl cnt finish the whole meal*(including fries)<br />and ended up we have to fork out another 41 bucks for the burger+fries<br /><br />went douby gaut after tt to meet up with jiahao, edmund, trendy and junhong<br />played pool at parklane mall for like 1 hours before heading off for dinner<br />watched growing up after tt at plaza sing...<br />seriously the movie is damn freaking boring right from the start<br />the storyline is plain and there is no action, no nothing at all...<br />its is a movie about 5 childhood fren and what happen chalet lasted from monday till wednesday<br />did a lot of stuff there except the most important of all - gambling...<br />where is the fun without gambling?<br />but too bad cause some people could not make it due to their work or other commitment<br />ended up only 6 people stayed overnight at the chalet<br />and 5 actually survived the whole episode...<br /><br />went night cycling on the first night and we rented the bikes at pasir ris<br />went to changi and visited the infamous OCH again =D<br />i would never dare to step inside the OCH at 1am again in case some uninvited guest follow us back<br />saw thailand 'prostitute' at the changi village carpark and my frens were like commenting how 'chio' those GUYs look...<br />i just cannot imagine how any straight guy would even set their sight on these transexual<br />its like so freaking gross and they still have a dick for god sake...<br />cycled back to changi at about 5am to have a glimpse of sunrise<br />disappointed by the fact we were facing the wrong direction although we were at the most eastern part of singapore where the sun would rise...<br />should have camped at the ferry terminal to tekong rather than the changi village area<br />once again sorry people... i did not realise we were actually 2km away from the spot where we can enjoy the sunrise<br />ate nasi lemak for breakfast at changi and cycled back to chalet for my very important sleep...<br /><br />woke up 6 hours later and get the food stuff for BBQ from jiahao's aunty<br />fire wasn't a problem this time and we got it started on the first try<br />only problem faced was insufficient charcoal to last us through the whole BBQ...<br />leftover with a whole lot of chicken wings and otah??<br />x-box for the rest of the night...<br />back home the next day and that marks the end of 2A06 chalet<br /><br />Bball in school on thursday<br />played with my secondary school frens and SR people<br />collected locker deposit too ($4)<br />just nice for my lunch even though the amount is a bit little...<br /><br />Back to pasir ris again on friday to sent jiahao off to tekong<br />it will b my turn in 2 month time...<br />talk and took pictures as the next time we will see each other will be 2 weeks later<br />1245pm inches nearer and off he go to tekong to start his Army life...<br />bid him farewell and we could see some gimmick for gaining reputation<br />this is what people call 'corporate social responsibility' which means giving back to the society<br />indeed i would support starbuck after this event and this
